Connor Norton (Artistic Director)

Connor Norton is a long-time ‘artivist’ having dedicated most of his career thus far to art for the sake of social activism and change. His work began in high school when he directed “The Laramie Project” with his mentor turned artistic partner Ricardo Melendez. Since then, he has done works to benefit associations like The Young Women’s Christian Association, Access AIDS Care and The LGBT Center of Hampton Roads, The Ali Forney Center, The American Foundation for Equal Rights, and many more. Connor completed his B.A. in Theatre and Women & Gender Theory with a minor in Business Administration from Old Dominion University. He currently serves as Company Manager for Virginia Stage Company and is an artist in residence at The Zeiders American Dream Theatre.

Ricardo Melendez (Workshop Director)

Ricardo is the Artistic Director of Virginia Ballet Theater, and Associate Artistic Director of Todd Rosenlieb Dance in Norfolk, Virginia. He is as well, the Former Artistic Director for Ballets De San Juan, Puerto Rico. Mr. Melendez is a former principal dancer with Dance Kaleidoscope, Indianapolis, where he later served as Assistant Artistic Director. He has performed with The Alvin Ailey Dance Ensemble, Ballet Hispanico of New York, Ballets de San Juan and others. Mr. Melendez is as well an international choreographer. His works has been seen across the USA as well as Italy, UK and the Caribbean. Former faculty for Virginia School of the Arts, Mr. Melendez currently teaches at the Governor School for the Arts both in the Theater and Dance Departments as well as at the Tidewater Community College, Norfolk Campus and Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Melendez also serves as Founding Producing Director for Workshop Theatre Group, a regional theater troupe based in Virginia. Mr. Melendez holds a BA degree in Dance Pedagogy from Butler University and a MFA degree in Theater from Brooklyn College, New York.

Colin Asercion (Social Media & Public Relations)

Colin Asercion is a New York based actor and a recent graduate from the BFA Acting Conservatory at SUNY Purchase College (Magna Cum Laude.) He fell in love with theatre and social activism at the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk Virginia, where he attended High School with other members of the Orange Ave. Project. He has recently been seen off broadway in Romeo and Juliet at the Sheen Center. In New York, Colin frequently volunteers for the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Broadway Impact and Broadway Cares: Equity Fights Aids. Twitter: @ColinAsercion

Haley Danielle Sullivan (Writer/Lead Artist-Researcher)

Haley Sullivan is a New York City based actor, writer, and activist.  With a degree in Acting from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she took her passion for story-telling through acting in theatre and film and began creating her own work inspired by the fight for women’s rights around the world.  She works to create spaces for women and minority voices to speak through theatre and film.  Whether it’s through activist work, acting or writing, Haley considers herself a feminist with a passion for progress and a deeper understanding of the human experience. After graduating The Academy with the Charles Jehlinger award, she moved on to work with such companies as The Pearl, Project Theatre, and The Amoralists. She has written and directed short films including The Other Word, Empty House, and Afterlife, and currently, Haley’s full length play, The Baba Yaga is in development.  Her favorite acting roles include “Jess,” in Canuck Downudner (Soho Playhouse), and “Ruth” in The Matthew Portraits, (Peter J. Sharp Theatre at Playwright’s Horizons.)
